What to Expect
Booking the photo shoot: You can contact me initially by email or telephone, but before we meet, I like to have a telephone conversation so you can tell me exactly what you’re looking for and which package you want. We can also talk about what to wear. Tip: It’s best to avoid white clothing. Unless you’re going for a particular look, solid colors are best, so that your face stands out. Prints can be distracting.
If you need to reschedule an appointment, please give me as much advance notice as possible. I only book one shoot per day so as to give each client as much time as they need.
At the photo shoot: Unless you’ve booked the Glamour package, you should arrive with your makeup done and hair styled. You can change here. You're welcome to bring a few different outfits. I have scarves, hats (for both men and women), and ties you can use.
I like to start by shooting around a couple of dozen photos. Then you can relax for a few minutes on my deck while I put the photos up on my large computer screen. At that point, I’ll invite you in to go through the photos with me. You can tell me what you like and don’t like, so I can have a better idea of what you’re looking for, and save your favorites. We’ll then go back into the studio and repeat the process until you have what you want. By collaborating together, we can create the perfect portrait, and end up with several that you’re happy with. You can select the included print at the end of the session, or, if you prefer, I can send you a link and password to a private website for you to view the photos at leisure. If you order additional prints at the end of the session, I’ll give you a 10% discount on any for which you prepay. Or you can order prints later. Except under unusual circumstances, prints will be ready within two days.
You will receive a flash drive with digital images suitable for social media of all prints that you order.
Payment is due in full at the end of the session. You can pay by credit card (for an additional 3% surcharge) or with cash.
Black Lace Portraits: If you want to create the right look for the black lace photos, it requires a specific style of makeup. It’s generally more eye makeup than most people normally wear. If you want both traditional portraits and black lace portraits, it would be best to shoot the regular portraits first, and the black lace portraits last. I’ll provide the makeup for the black lace portraits and can guide you in applying it. Hair styling is not required, since you’ll either be wearing a turban or have your hair pulled back. I’ll also provide the black tank top and pearls to achieve the right look.
Additional Retouching
Once you are home and looking at the photos on my private website gallery, if you decide you want to have additional photos retouched for printing, it will cost $25-$50 per image, depending upon the difficulty of the job.
Finally: You can expect to have fun!
